70's… first research results
The application of the polyethylene film in the agricultural sector becomes more important either in terms of protection against environmental agents or in terms of growing of the hectare output.
If until the end of the 60’s it was sufficient to use a film for greenhouse covering, with life duration of an agricultural season and only one harvest, in the 70’s Eiffel research programs found the first applications in the sector of the long life films, able to reach multi-year duration (up to 3 agricultural seasons in the north of Italy), thanks to the selection of the best additives.
In the 70’s Eiffel consolidates the leadership in the internal market: it is not only the first company introducing the diffusion of the big length rolls (1975), up to 1000 kilos for the covering of the whole batteries of greenhouses, but it was also the first to launch thermal films with mineral charges (1978) to prevent thermal inversion during the night.
